OPI Sahara Sapphire

Don't have a clue what colour this is.. silver/grey/ice blue... but it's pretty and it's wearing quite well... 3 days and counting.

Sally Hansen topcoat with hardener.. seems to be doing the trick.

I had an orientation meeting today for the Reaktor Skolen... signing up, etc.  Fun (not).  The worst part is that it couldn't BE in a more inaccessible place. There's ZERO bus access :( Absolutely none.

I have no idea what's going to happen.

Ugh.  My feet are hurting so badly right now from walking back and forth and Ø is in an absolutely FOUL mood.  Yick.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Under the Stars.  It did some weird bubbly thing when I put the Jordana topcoat (Nails Be Strong) on top of it.  I have slopped on another couple coats and it seems to be giving up bubbling ^^

Spent SO MUCH TIME walking around today going from office to office trying to get some idea how to get stipend and school study place or praxis for next year.  I'm tired of fighting to get back in school.  :( I want it to be easier.

China Glaze Patent Leather.  Wow, what an insanely nice application.  It just glides on... yum!  It's a very blue/cool red, so it seems to be ok with my skin.

Put a big daisy rhinestone sticker thing on my ring finger :D  I'm the princess!

Borghese Stellare Notte.  Looks exactly like the nacre on a black pearl.  Very very pretty.  I'm not really expecting much since everyone says this colour gets tip wear like crazy, but I'll probably change it tomorrow anyhow.

Last night/today's mani was OPI DS Vintage... such a pretty burnt pumpkin with very noticeable holo in it.

Love it.

Actually, I love the Borghese as well, though it's spendy for a drug store nail polish (about $8 retail, I bought it from someone's blog sale though, for about $3).

La la la... had an interview today, did ok.. was a practice one though.  Job fair tomorrow.  Will go hand out CVs tomorrow and see what happens.

RBL finally came YAY.  Purty...

I knew I would probably get socked for import tolls, which I did... to the tune of $40 (for $63 in polish).  So I insisted on standing there to open the package (which looked like a truck had rolled over it) in front of the SAME BORED HIGH SCHOOL KID.  So I could find out -what- they had destroyed this time.  1 of the 7 polishes (Recycle, of course, the one I was really looking extra special forward to)...crushed...  well down onto the bottle, not at all near the neck.

Very disappointing.  *sigh*

I'm off to write them about it.  This blows.

NotD BarryM Dusky Mauve

Still annoyed at the post orifice monkeys... still annoyed about the crushed and missing nail polish (ok, not enraged or anything, but yeah, it's annoying). 

I did my nails tonight.. with the BarryM Dusky Mauve (Paradoxal dupe) and I really LIKE it.  It's strong, it dries quickly, it feels like it's stiffer on my poor flaky nails...  We'll see how it works for tomorrow.

I had an assignment to fill out a letter of application for a job (in my case a dreamy molecular biology lab job doing PCR and Taq PCR sample preparation)...  Redid my CV also... so I hope something happens eventually.  Could use a regular stable job.

Still in the application process with uni also, for next year.  So I guess things are moving along! :)

RAAAAAH Post office rant

Barry M haul.. cool, huh?  Except that the post office NEVER gives me a notice when things come.. until they send a 'SECOND NOTICE ZOMG' that they're sending my packages back.  Idiots.  I mean it.. I've had it with them.  They do this every freakin' time.  THEN I have to open the package in FRONT OF the bored high school kid to check what's broken, so I can fill out the complaint form.  Note that I didn't say IF something was broken.  It also never fails.

GRAAAAH stupid post office monkeys.

So it's not bad enough that BarryM 310 was crushed (seriously.. CRUSHED. I've never seen a polish bottle get actually crushed into pieces.. usually the neck breaks off)..  but apparently something went wrong at BarryM's end too, because one of the polishes (210 Once Upon A Time) wasn't even in the package though it's on the packing slip. 

Bugger.  Gonna go send them a ranty email.  And Ø's only comment was 'at least they crushed the fugly colour' ... gee thanks sweety :P

NotD, Haul etc

Received my ELF mini-haul in the mail... 6 little polishes.  I have been thinking about reselling them on Finn.no, buying some more, etc.. I haven't actually tried ANY of them on yet... I think my untrieds pile is actually bigger than my trieds at this point.

NotD is H&M U Must Have This.  Really pretty light blue creme.  I have 2 coats of Shine on Crazy Diamond over it + 1 coat Savvy FC Glass Slipper + 1 coat LA Colors TC.

It's not a really 'me' blue.. but I love it anyhow!

Ebay haul

Stuck in America. These are for frankening... couple breakages/some spillage... but H. just sent me pics.  I've been playing a game to try to figure out what brands these are and checking colours and ingredients.

I wanted Mismas, Orbis and Diddy Mow too :( The thing is, after I put in my order (Under the Stars, Frugalista, Scrangie, Look Rich be Cheap, 360, Recycle and Dead Calm), I went back and checked and they were listed as 'in stock'.  I don't know whether someone's cart timed out or what... but it might pay to keep checking back!  Man I am lemming for Mismas, Orbis and Diddy Mow.  Bleh.

ASOS haul, NOTD

Illamasqua Force from the ASOS sale haul.  I. Love. This. Colour.  I can't even describe what colour it is.  It's not teal, it's not turquoise... it's not a true blue...  It's sort of dusty greyish bluish tealish periwinkle.

I have never seen another colour like that.

Broke off THREE more nails.   I think it must be something to do with the cooler/drier weather.  Blargh.  Now I have nubbins :(

I ordered some of the Jordana nail treatment stuff from the CherryCulture sale (20% off for hallowe'en) so maybe it'll help my poor nails with a strengthener. 
I wanted to take a picture of the ASOS haul, but didn't want Ø to see it all together.. so I slammed it into the helmer PDQ. :D

NYX Titanic

Beautiful formula, brush is 3/5...  I love the colour.  Looks a little black-ish in low light...but with the overhead on it's electric true blue.  5/5

The water's been off since yesterday morning and I have to go to the toilet.  VERY unpleasant.  I wish they'd get themselves sorted out and find the leak and fix our water. ARGH.

Been reading some Ed McBain.  He's another one like John D. McDonald and Dick Francis, I resisted reading for a long time for no discernible reason.  I am really enjoying his books.. maybe just a little bit hard boiled for my taste... but a fun read.

OH, and we did actually go to H&M for the nail polish on sale.  It was off sale the day before OF COURSE.  /sigh.  So I came home and ordered a bunch of stuff online. Muahahah.

chipped manis

I noticed my 7 layer salad of a manicure got immediate chipping problems.  At least 5 major chips in the first day. Blech. 

I am planning to go to H&M at Lagunen tonight and pick up a few of the sale IsaDora colours. The water is turned off today, so I'm hoping I can talk Ø into taking us out to dinner.   I am going to try to find that DARK blue creme and a couple others.. Love IsaDora brushes. Wish the bottles were bigger.

Finally FINALLY got M in Canada paid for the blog sale nail polish.. yeesh how embarassing to have to wait til I got money to pay her. :(

Still waiting on the package from Amp.  She sent it signed delivery, so who knows what they've done with it >< 

Sent off a very angry letter to NAV about the mean guy.  I just felt so intimidated and kicked down.  He was so disgusted and disapproving. 

Finished The Keys To The Street by Ruth Rendell yesterday...  I love her writing... precise, accessible, smooth, never yanks you out of the story.  Just perfect.

After yesterday's HORRIBLE NAV interview (hateful, mean spirited, rude and unhelpful man!) I needed a new manicure.  It's just about become a form of meditation for me really.  I don't know that the new manicure helped all that much honestly, but at least it took my mind off the issues for a little while.

It's all about layers with this new manicure. 2 base coats, 3 coats of SC Kismet Elated (a really funky brown/berry/pinkish duochrome) which is ultra sheer, 2 coats of SC Pink Ocean (holo flakies ahoy!)... something was still missing.  So I've topped it with a coat of SC Aruba Rhythm (grey pink duochrome) and a final topcoat of SC Agaci.

Mostly it looks like a mess...though the application was fine.  I just wish the colours looked more like they do in the bottle.  Then I wouldn't keep thinking 'eh, not right...I'll layer a coat of _____ on top'.  Meh.

broken nails

Slammed the bathroom door, broke off pointer & middle finger on my right hand.  They feel sooo weird.  Pointer finger was split from earlier (at the hospital) WAY back into the quick, so I expected it to go, just not so soon again. 

*sigh*

I have on Orly It's Not Rocket Science atm. Just a plain jane mani til my fingers are done being freakish.

NotD, ASOS haul

2 Lovely coats of IsaDora Wonder nail #178 Mulberry Wine.  I hate the price on these little (6ml) polishes, about $13 each! (gasp) But... I have to admit the colour, pigmentation, brush, application, wearability and everything are top class.  Utterly fab.  This is a deep plummy mulberry shimmer.  Very pretty.

I also have some goodies coming from the ASOS sale.  (It's so darned dumb that they don't ship to Norway, or the USA, or Ireland.. or basically anywhere but England).  Meh.

I don't think i've ever used any Ciate lacquers... this will also be my first Illamasqua lacquers.  :) Yay.  I'm also ordering a huge haul from a lovely person in Canada.  She has some fantastic deals on her de-stash sale.  Anyhow.. just waiting for the money to go into my acc't so I can 'ransom' my lovelies! :D

1 coat Depend 191 a nice grass green shimmer.  1 coat LA Girl Sapphire, a sapphire blue shimmer.  1 coat Savvy Glass Slipper (ice blue glass holo topcoat)... and a couple little stickers from the panduro haul.

Looks nice, if boring.

New nails

Vita apotek was having a sale on IsaDora wonder nail stuff.  Regularly 79nok, down to 59 nok.  Understand that these are 6ml (.2oz) bottles, so they're small! About the same size as OPI mini bottles.  Anyhow, that's pretty expensive, even on sale.  However.. my lord, the BRUSH, the APPLICATION, the POLISH.  It's fab.  It's fabtastic with awesome sauce on top.  The brush is -wide- and flat.  The polish is creamy as pure butter.. it glides on and goes precisely where you 'tell' it to go.

I bought the Matte TopCoat, and brand new 706 'In the Army' a dark army green khaki.  It's gorgeous.  I can't stop looking at my nails.  It's truly opaque in ONE coat.  I might add another one just for giggles, but it's not necessary.

I definitely want to go back and get a few more including the deep denim blue and the hunter green jelly.  Amazing.  Just pure love.

Base is 3 coats (THIIIIN!) L.A.Colors 'Explosive'.  These are 4 bottle sets from L.A.Colors and I bought mine at Cherry Culture for $3.60 USD for the set.  The polishes themselves aren't named, but the Explosive set has a kelly green, hot pink, orange and purple colour in the 4 bottle set.  The volumes aren't listed anywhere (bad!) but I am going to make an educated guess and say 10ml per bottle.  I'm going to use them for frankening probably, but I do like the green, I just wish it weren't so transparent.  3 coats and I still have very VNL.  Application was ok and the brushes were surprisingly good for 'cheap' polish.

I faux-nad'ed the allover leaf pattern from BM19 in white and  put a couple little fimo butterflies on ring and thumbnails. Topped it up with a couple coats of LA Rock Star 'Crowd Surfing' and I'm pretty pleased.  

Still waiting for Amp to send the Asos sale haul (not her fault, the packages haven't all arrived to her yet)... it's the dumbest thing -ever- that they will ship to Wallis Island and Annuncion and lord knows where else in the middle of the Pacific, but NOT to most of Europe or the USA (grr).  So I had to ask a favour and get it sent to Amp's house in the UK and she'll send it on to me here.  NOT fun, Asos!  I'm talkin' to you!  The prices were fab though... Bought several Illamasqua polishes on sale and really looking forward to trying them out! Wheee!

2 Coats of Models Own Purple Grey (Chanel Paradoxal dupe).  I just love this colour, and I don't normally go gaga for cremes.  I put little blue/green holo flower cutouts (from the ebay glitter/sequin haul) on each finger and 2 on the thumbs.  Plain topcoat.  No glitter.

Holding up pretty well except for a major chip on the right thumb (don't think I even whacked it or anything), the next day.  I painted over it and topcoated and it's visible, but not unless you're up close and personal.

Ordered Ciaté Sets Twilight Collection & Illamasqua Nail Varnish - Muse from the asos sale.  Why on earth do they not deliver to Norway OR the USA?  I had to have it sent to Amp in the UK.  Anyhow, it's arrived.  Still waiting on the rest of the order:

Orly Lunar Eclipse

Had to use 3 coats, but very pretty.  Understated and captivatingly blingy. Tried to use 'shine on crazy diamond' for a little extra topcoat bling, but no go.  The silver holo glitter in SOCD stuck out like a sore thumbnail. (haha).  I'll put on some topcoat and leave it alone.  Like it!  Dries pretty quickly also.  And I like Orly's bottle cap, rubber and easy to hold onto.

New mani

3x LA colors Blue Treasure. Offset french tip with LA colors Gold Digger. Faux-nad BM strip with black.  2 little mylar gold stars on the blue part of thumbs. 2 topcoats of Sinful Colors Pearl harbor.

Boring, but it'll do for a couple days.

Blue treasure is -ultra- thin!  3 coats was transparent.  Don't think it can be made opaque.

Changed again

LA Colors Purple Ice x2 coats (SO STREAKY!) with topcoats of Sinful Colors Agaci, Sinful Colors 'Pink Ocean' (LOVE the different sized mylar foil) & a couple coats of Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond.

It's mega blingy sparkly!  Love it.

Wish the LA Colors Purple Ice wasn't so streaky... yikes!

Changed the mani

French tip from bundle monster plate 17 in black LA Colors Black Velvet over 1 coat of  LA Colors metallic green (too light for me!) and 3 coats of Orly Shine on crazy diamond.  I think I'm probably the only person who winces that it's not shine on YOU crazy diamond, but at least it's sparkly!  I keep looking at my fingernails.

Shame that the metallic green is so light.  I think I'll probably redo tomorrow or the next day and maybe use a duochrome instead.

Went to pick up a huge haul from Cherry Culture which finally got through the postal monkeys here in Norway and broke a chunk out of my thumbnail *grumbles*  I trimmed/filed it, so it only looks slightly goofy instead of life threateningly dangerously sharp.

I got a huge box from CC... 45 new polishes (yay!) and the Orly FX colours from Hollie.  Woot.  I am really loving Galaxy Girl and It's not rocket science.  I can't decide what to swatch first!

I changed out the mani since the OPI cuckoo for this color and one coat of SOPI midnight mambo literally -peeled- off every nail in ONE piece.  Started at the tips and when I took a shower and washed my hair, they all lifted up and just plopped off.  Was really bizarre.

Anyhow, I think I'll try one of the holo glitters I got from Cherry Culture and post some pics later.
Beautiful fall weather here.. clear and dry for once.  Ø's off at a work dinner, so I'm gonna do my nails.

NotD

Changed up the mani tonight again...  Lately I've been managing to do my nails 3x a week or more... kinda proud of myself.

I don't think I got a picture of yesterday's mani, and I have to say I was really disappointed how much chipping I got in only 1 day.  It was 'dear lee' no name grey shimmer (smelled like toxic waste)... with a little faux-nad french tip in silver. 

Today's is 2 coats of OPI Cuckoo for this color, and a couple coats of OPI topcoat.  I need to buy some seche vite topcoat, but haven't done it yet.

I think I'll add some french tips in silver or white...

My Cherry Culture haul is tracking as having left the USA on 22 Sept. Yay!  I wonder how long it will take to get here ... Impatient? Yeah.

New mani

Changed the mani today.  Base colour 97 Berry Gloss by Nivea...a really plummy wine jelly.  The application was a little annoying, because it streaks like crazy... but in the end, 3 coats did a great job. The bottle says '2 coats'... but no way, unless they were really thick.  I faux-naded a french tip from one of the bundle monster plates, then finished up with a couple of topcoats and one thin coat of Sinful Colors 'All About You'.

Looks cute :)

Also trimmed my nails.. they're really short now 0.o

Changed the mani

I faux-naded an allover design in silver (Model's Own Sterling Silver) over the OPI Jade is the New Black.  Those bundle monster allover plates are -really- narrow (as everyone has posted)...  They fit over my little and ring fingers, the other fingers have to be pieced together in 2 goes.  It's usually possible to fudge though.

I am really enjoying the look of the silver over the green. 

Post doctor mani

Went to the surgeon today for post-surgery check. They took out a lot of fluid, which hurt like hell and made me weak and nauseous.  The weather is grey and cold today as well, which conspired to make me feel quite blah.  So, I needed a happy new manicure, of course!
OPI's Jade is the new black, over H&M's base coat.  Happy happy green. :)  I might konad or faux-nad over it.. silver maybe? but for now it'll do.

NotD

Models Own It was having a half off sale at the end of August and I got 6 new colours from them including the Chanel Paradoxal dupe called Purple Grey (and it really is a close dupe).  Today however, I am wearing NPO44, Gun Grey.  It's a very nice pure charcoal grey colour with no hint of blue or purple.  It's also got a very nice silver shimmer.  Photos to come.

I really like the formula.  It's fast drying, seems quite tough and doesn't flake. I was in a little bit of a hurry and wound up with a few very small bubbles (my own fault).

I also broke the nail on my right hand pointer finger, WAY back into the quick.  It looks horrible (and it actually really HURT too! Ouchie!).

I used 3 coats with a topcoat by H&M.

It's not a fancy mani. I've been thinking about faux-nading something on top or adding some decals or something.

New Blog

I've joined the masses and made my own nail blog.  I confess it's mostly to be able to have one place to keep track of the nail/lacquer blogs I follow regularly and to see which ones have been updated recently. 

I also want to keep track of my manicures and have a place to post my mani pics!  I'm always available for nail (or perfume!) chat or to offer sympathy over the lack of affordable polish in Europe!
